It is hard to believe it is already the Final Week  of our Fall Session! This is our last week, Week 16. Your 16-week and Annual Memberships end this week. Thank you for your Membership this Season! Our Catch of the Week will be Acadian Redfish. 

And Scallop Add ons this week, order here by midnight tonight! We have Scallops in 1lb and 5lb bags this week! Stock up, scallops freeze nicely!

CATCH OF THE WEEK-ACADIAN REDFISH

Our fish this week is the Acadian Redfish, otherwise called "Red Perch" or "Ocean Perch".  This is our northern Atlantic Grouper species! This big eyed fish looks like a tropical fish from the islands. A member of the Rockfish (Grouper) family, the Redfish is a deep water, goggle eyed, slow-growing, fish that spans from Norway to Georges Bank in our Atlantic Ocean. Not to be confused with red drum, a southern species down south, the Redfish births live young (very rare with fish) and can live to be up to 50 years old! This species, once thought of as by-catch or lobster bait, is quickly becoming one of the more popular fish in the US, especially here in New England!

KNOW YOUR FISHERMEN

Your Fishermen this Week are the Captains and crew on our Guestboats out of Gloucester, Mass including F/V Captain Joe. Our only NH Fisherman fishing this week was Monk fishing, which we have offered several times this Session. We chose to give one of our less common offerings, the Redfish. 

 

The Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) Sustainable Seafood Division has an influential seafood branding (Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested) traceability and marketing division. In 2015, they declared Redfish among one of the five best fish to eat out of the Gulf of Maine, the waterbody that encompasses our NH shoreline.

Whether cooking at home or ordering out, conscientious shoppers often face difficult choices. But when it comes to seafood, there are plenty of fish you can feel good about eating.

 

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

Redfish fillets are thin and have the skin on. All the good Omega-3's are in the skin! Cook these fillets for just a few minutes, on each side if frying, grilling or sauteeing! Season overnight for full flavor.

Our Restaurants will be carrying our fish until Jan 1! Please support them.

In addition to our Community Supported Fishery, we also run a thriving Restaurant Supported Fishery (RSF).  Our RSF is supply driven and operates on the old adage of the "Catch of the Week".  You can read all about it on our website.

The following restaurants and retail stores participate in our Restaurant Supported Fishery (RSF) program. Through their creative talents, they make our delicious local fish taste even better and available to a wider audience! Please support them by eating and shopping there frequently. And let them know you support local, sustainable fish!


 

 

We also enjoy a partnership with Three River Farmers Alliance. They help pair our local seafood with chefs in the Seacoast region with a desire for locally sourced foods.
